Junior Cricket
Format Information
Junior Cricket (Mixed Competitions & Girls Competitions) within the Sutherland Shire Junior Cricket Association follow the principles and core Playing Conditions of the Australian Cricket Junior Formats. The formats are designed to ensure players learn the game and progress appropriately as they move through the age groups.
In Mixed Competitions:
Stage 1 – Under 10’s
Stage 2 – Under 12’s
Stage 3 – Under 14’s & Under 16’s
In Girls Competitions, competitions are skill based:
Stage 1 (ages 8-12) – completed Cricket Blast and ready to play the sport of cricket. Ability to bowl over 16m.
Stage 2 (ages 10-15) – leather ball on an 18m pitch
There are some specific Playing Conditions for each age group and grade within the SSJCA. It is advised that coaches, managers and parents familiarise themselves with the SSJCA Playing Regulations so everyone is aware of how the game is played, so everyone can enjoy.
