Annual General Meeting – 2019/20

Even though it is the first week of winter preparations for the approaching cricket season are commencing

The Annual General Meeting of your club, Gymea Bay Cricket Club, is to held on Wednesday 19 June 2019 at 7.30 pm at Gymea Bay Oval. A notice of meeting is attached as is a formal agenda.

One of the most important features of the AGM will be the election of officers of the Club for the coming year. Any club needs committed people to help operate its activities. The Club has a wonderful base of players, parents and coaches but if you are able to offer your time (which is often not a lot) to support the club in any way by taking on a role – naturally consistent with your interests that would be sincerely appreciated. The positions that will be determined at the AGM are listed on the notice. If you require more details as to what the duties might be for particular positions, please contact me. A nomination form for positions is attached. All completed nominations should be returned to myself as Club Secretary, on or before the time of the meeting. Nominations may also be taken on the night if the elements of the nomination are the same as the nomination attached.

Really the main requirement is a love of the game of cricket – and a wish to develop the friendships and skills it offers for ourselves as players and for our children in junior cricket. We are fortunate to have a group of committed coaches, managers and parents among the junior teams – and any involvement they may be able to have in the club as a whole would be warmly appreciated certainty).

I personally have found it a rewarding experience which I would recommend to all – particularly in being able to be involved in junior cricket

Club fees for the coming season will also be settled at the AGM. Cricket NSW has increased (by $20) the fee it charges to support the valued assistance of the Junior Cricket Administrator. The attached Agenda for the meeting sets out 4 Options for dealing with that increase (and contains a recommendation from the Committee as to which option is considered most favourable). In considering fees for the coming season parents of Junior Players will note there will be 2 Active Kids Vouchers (each of $100) available in the coming year from 1 July. These vouchers may be used to cover the large majority of GBCC fees.

A proxy form is provided for those wishing to vote but who are unable to attend the meeting

In order to vote at the Annual General Meeting, you must be over 16 years of age and one of the following (in accordance with clause 5 of the Constitution):

  • An elected Committee member
  • A financial member of a senior team
  • A financial member of a junior team
  • One parent or guardian of that financial member of a junior team
  • Managers and coaches of junior teams
  • Life members
  • Any other person approved for membership by the Committee

Each category is viewed in relation to the season just concluded

If anyone wishes, or wants more information about any of these issues could they contact John Robb on 0468 969 084.
